PCNL provides inter-generational activities for the residents of some 21 blocks of flats in
Kampong Glam. Major services include:
- Kampong Glam Community Meals Programme
Economic and nutritious lunches at heavily subsidized price (50 cents) are served to the elderly from Mondays to Fridays.
- Alert Alarm System (AAS)
The AAS is nstalled for elderly households living in the one-room rental flats. In an emergency, the elderly resident simply pulls a cord to activate the alarm. Volunteers and PCNL staff will then attend to the AAS cases during the operational hours of the Centre. After office hours, neighbours and the Neighbourhood Police Post are alerted to lend a helping hand.
- Other PCNL services include information and referral services and day activities such as TV/Video/Karaoke sessions, recreational sessions, educational talks, keep-fit exercises, chit-chat sessions, outings and mail-reading for residents etc.
The programme aims at helping the needy and ill elderly residents who require long-term out-patient treatment. Kampong Glam CCC provides financial assistance to help defray part of their medical treatment cost.
Application for the programme can be made through the Kampong Glam Community Centre Office or through the Advisor/MP.
The ComCare Fund sponsored by the Singapore Government aims at providing short-term financial assistance to needy residents.
This programme provides free food and grocery vouchers to our Public Assistance recipients in Kampong Glam so they can obtain free food and groceries from participating hawkers in Kampong Glam. The desire is to provide free and nutritious food for our needy and elderly residents.

Services for Elderly
