Kampong Glam Citizens’ Consultative Committee and CC Women’s Executive Committee jointly organised the above event to distribute the Kampong Glam Medical Welfare Grant to the needy elderly from low income families annually. At the same time, under the Enhanced Medical Welfare Programme, they also distributed the tonic food to the Medical Welfare Grant recipients. The funds for the Enhanced Medical Welfare Programme is from the E3 grant sponsored by Central Singapore Community Development Council.

The objectives of Kampong Glam Medical Welfare are to assist financially needy elderly residents with long term illness. This subsidy could help defray part of the cost of outpatient consultation and medication and could also help prevent the elderly residents from defaulting treatment due to financial difficulties. All needy elderly residents (Singapore Citizens, PRs, Non PA recipients) aged 60 & above are eligible to apply for the above grant in Kampong Glam Division.
