23 Nov 2008: Kampong Glam Workplan 2009.

Some 200 grassroots leaders from 9 RCs , 2 CCMCs and its subgroups and Sports Club, Civil Defence and IRCC met on 23 Nov 2008 at Telok Ayer Hong Lim Green CC from 2 pm to 5.30 pm.

Guest-of-honour, Advisor to Kampong Glam Grassroots Organizations, Ms Denise Phua opened the Workplan Session with interesting photo-slides of what had been done and achieved todate in 2008. The selected accompanying music, 'Stand By Me' and 'Only You' were appropriate and significant. The team felt strongly that to achieve, we have to stand by one another and each of us can make a difference, if we serve with passion and love.

Members from the GROs then presented their key strategies and work plans for 2009. CCC Chairman, Mr Woon Tai Hean, PBM, BBM summed up the presentations calling for sharing and maximizing resources, ie. do more with less.

Advisor, Ms Denise Phua closed the Workplan with 4 key directions for 2009 (1) Improve our GRO star rating; (2) Include one or more of the following focus areas in the work plans: youth, family, the needy, the elderly, the environment (reduce, reuse and recycle) (3) Work SMART - target, template & tight execution, and (4)Remember that change begins with me. The concluding video clips on "It Takes Everyone" and "New and Better (Ideas)" said it all. A most fruitful afternoon!
